Investigation of Route Optimization for Mobile Ad hoc NEMO (MANEMO) Based Proposals

چکیده
In the doorway of the Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), it was considered as the standard protocol that support the host mobility. Due to its limitation that does not support the Mobile Routers (MRs), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has introduced the NEMO Basic Support (NEMO BS) protocol. The Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) routing protocol provides the local and the direct communications between two mobile devices within the Nested NEMO (when multiple MRs are connected together). Integrating the MANET and the NEMO (MANEMO) provides the necessary additions to the existing protocols (IPv6, Neighbour Discovery (ND), and NEMO) to support the Nested MRs. It provides a mechanism to select the most suitable path to the Exit Router (ER) as a default in the MANEMO Fringe Stub (MFS). The NCM (NEMO centric MANEMO) protocol is introduced to address the Nested NEMO issues (e.g. pinball problem) by using the MANET routing a protocol (i.e. OLSR), while the MCM (MANET centric MANEMO) protocol is introduced to address the MANET problem (e.g. Internet connectivity). The main aim of this paper is to investigate the current approaches that are introduced to provide the Route Optimization (RO) for the NEMO. It highlights the strengths and the limitations of these approaches. Both the qualitative and the quantitative evolutions of these proposals are hereby presented.

Performance of Handovers between NEMO and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using Buffering
A MANEMO node is an IP-based mobile node that has interface attachments to both a mobile network, using Network Mobility (NEMO), and a Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET). While communicating with a correspondent node in the Internet, the MANEMO node should use the best possible path. Therefore, as conditions change, a handover between NEMO and MANET is desirable. This paper describes the operation o...
متن کاملA Scheme for Supporting Optimal Path in 6LoWPAN Based MANEMO Networks
In this paper, we focus on the scheme for the route optimization in 6LoWPAN based MANEMO environments. If 6LoWPAN mobile routers for supporting NEMO protocol are organized by nested NEMO, this nesting of 6LoWPAN mobile router makes the extremely un-optimal route between 6LoWPAN nodes and its correspondent node. This is so, because all of the packets should be forwarded through the bi-directiona...
متن کاملDelay and Packet Loss Analysis for Handovers between MANETs and NEMO Networks
MANEMO is the integration of Network Mobility (NEMO) and Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET). A MANEMO node has an interface to both a MANET and NEMO network, and therefore should choose the optimal interface for packet delivery, however such a handover between interfaces will introduce packet loss. We define the steps necessary for a MANEMO handover, using Mobile IP and NEMO to signal the new bindin...
متن کاملThe Integration of Ad-hoc (MANET) and Mobile Networking (NEMO): Principles to Support Rescue Team Communication
The concept of combining MANET and NEMO protocols in order to optimally support Nested NEMO scenarios is a relatively new idea that is attracting a lot of attention within the IETF NEMO WG. This combination has been termed MANEMO, which until now has stood to describe the process of running a MANET protocol between local Mobile Networks in a Nested NEMO topology, to optimise local packet delive...
متن کاملA NetBSD-based IPv6/NEMO Mobile Router
This paper defines the problem statement of vehicle-embedded networking in order to communicate with the infrastructure (the Internet) as well as with other cars. Based on this problem statement, we explain the steps that allowed us to build a mobile router addressing this problem by using state of the art software. This software includes the NetBSD-current kernel and networking code developed ...
